Answers to some common questions about renewing. If they don't answer your question:

| I'm a previous member. Can I still renew or do I have to join again? | We keep members' details for seven years, so it's very likely you will be able to renew and re-use you original membership number. Please contact the Membership Secretary to check. |
| When can I renew? | Our renewal period starts on 1st April each year and runs until just after our May Monthly Meeting, You will be sent a reminder with all the relevant dates. If you don't renew by the deadline, your membership will be deemed to have lapsed and you will no longer be entitled to attend our u3a meetings. But you'll be welcome back at any time. So if you change your mind, just follow the Membership Renewal instructions on the Renew page. |
| How can I renew? | Either by filling in a paper renewal form or, during the April/May renewal period, by renewing online. Please use the online option if you Renew page for more information. |
| I need to change my Membership Class because: - I want to stop/start taking u3a matters - My partner is joining - My partner isn't renewing. Can I change my Class when I renew? | Yes, if you renew using a paper form. The form asks you to tell us if you want to change your Class. No, if you renew online. Please contact the Membership Secretary, telling them what needs to change, before you renew, or you will be charged the wrong amount. |
| Do I need to fill in a paper form or sign anything if I renew online? | No, just fill in the online form. |
| Can I renew for both of us? | Yes, if you have a Joint membership, one member can renew both memberships. |
| How can I pay? | By cheque if you renew using a paper form. Using a credit or debit card, or a PayPal account if you renew online. The online payment process is managed by PayPal. It will encourage you to pay using an existing PayPal account or by creating a new one. You don't have to do either of these. Instead, look for the option to Pay with Debit or Credit card. |
| What about Gift Aid? | If you are a UK tax payer and you would like the u3a claim Gift Aid on your subscription, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box on the paper or online form. For joint memberships the person making the payment must be the person who pays tax. If you do not pay tax, or do not want the u3a to claim Gift Aid, make sure the box is not ticked. |
| What happens after I've paid? | If you've renewed on paper you will receive an email from the Membership Secretary confirming your renewal has been processed. If you've renewed online, you will receive an email from PayPal confirming your payment. You will also receive a separate email from the Membership Secretary confirming your renewal. If you do not receive both of these emails, please do not try to renew online again. Instead, contact the Membership Secretary, as you may have been charged even though your renewal has failed. |
| Will I get a new membership card? | Yes, if you renew online, your card(s) will be attached to the email we send you, so that you can print them at home. We do not routinely send new cards to members who renew on paper. The email you will receive will, however, tell you how to request one. |
