What Do the Membership Fees Cover?
The running costs of our own u3a plus the Third Age Trust’s (national u3a) annual subscription of £4.00. No reduction is given to joint members (two members who live at the same address) or to members of other u3as.
Are There Any Additional Costs?
Members may opt to receive 'u3a matters', the award-winning national magazine of the u3a movement. The magazine is posted direct to members’ home addresses five times a year. Postage costs £4.20 per year in addition to the annual membership fee. Joint members only receive, and pay for, one copy of u3a matters.
In addition to the annual fees, members may be required to pay additional charges to cover the running costs of their groups. For example, to cover meeting room hire, refreshments, specialist equipment, visit tickets etc. These charges are controlled by the groups themselves.
When Are Fees Paid?
Our membership year runs from 1st April until 31st March. Fees for both renewing and joining are reduced from 1st January each year. All members are expected to renew in April each year, irrespective of when they join.
What Are Membership Classes?
We use Membership Classes to differentiate between Individual and Joint members and between those who do or don't opt to receive u3a
matters. The tables below show the fees for each of our four classes.
