Dronfield and District u3a (charity number 1189224) is part of a UK-wide network of u3as, operating under the advice and guidance of the national u3a. Like each other u3a, we are an independent, self-help organisation.
The u3a motto is ‘Learn, Laugh, Live’. We encourage our members to do just that, making the most of life and helping each other explore new ideas whilst sharing their skills and social interests.
We have a wide variety of Groups and positively encourage members to start new ones. Groups are run by the members for the members. In line with the Guiding Principles of the u3a Movement we don't have teachers and there are no exams.
We hold a variety of Meetings throughout the year, many of which are open to visitors.
Overall responsibility for the smooth running of Dronfield and District u3a lies with its Trustees - a Committee of volunteers elected annually by our members.
Our members come primarily from Dronfield and its surrounding areas, but there are no geographic restrictions on membership. Nor are there any upper or lower age limits, although most of our members are aged 50+.
New members are always welcome. We offer both individual and joint Memberships. Members have the option to subscribe to ‘u3a matters’, the magazine of the national u3a. It's published five times a year and features news and stories from u3as across the UK. In addition, all our members receive The Cryer!, our own free monthly newsletter. New for 2026 is the monthly Bulletin Board, containing notices from the DDu3a Committee.
